The mouse is trying to find its own way in the world when it comes across a door. But only through the keyhole can it see what awaits it on the other side. With a ‘spatialist’ quote, the protagonist distorts the canvas, drawing the attention of the observer away from the work itself and towards what might lie beyond the work.
